Abstract: Academic achievement symbolise students educational performance that reveals the extent to which&#xD;
a learner has achieved specific goals and objectives that were the focus of activities to be attained in school,&#xD;
college, and university. Emotional intelligence (also known as emotional quotient or EQ) is referred to the&#xD;
ability to understand, exercise and control our own emotions in a positive manner to, communicate effectively,&#xD;
empathize with others, overcome challenges and resolve problems. This study aims to investigate the&#xD;
relationship between academic achievement and emotional intelligence. The sample set of the research was&#xD;
taken from the under graduate students of different colleges from Aizawl, Champhai Lunglei and Serchhip&#xD;
district of Mizoram by the simple random sampling method. The participants were 800 under graduate students&#xD;
from Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Emotional intelligence levels of under graduate students were&#xD;
measured using the Roqan Emotional Intelligence Test (REIT) (2008) developed by Prof. Roquiya Zainuddin&#xD;
and Anjum Ahmed and SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) of last university examination was used for&#xD;
finding out academic achievement of the under graduate students. Pearson product-moment correlation analysis&#xD;
was used to analyze data. The results revealed that under graduate’s students have average emotional&#xD;
intelligence and there is was little correlation between emotional intelligence and academic achievement</description>

Abstract: This study tested the occupational aspiration levels of higher secondary school students. Occupational aspiration uttered career related choice, preference of ideal jobs or career goals. Home environment and parental guidance and monitoring plays a significant role in the children education and career ambition. The present study tries to find out the impact of parents education on the higher secondary school children aspiration levels, and the possible influence of variation in their locality and gender on occupational aspiration. The study was conducted to 340 higher secondary school students of 145 male and 195 female. For the investigation the researcher administered standardized tool of occupational aspiration prepared by Dr. J. S.Gerwal. The study reveals that most of the respondents (71.17%) have average occupational aspiration, and there is evidence that parental education has positive influence on the youth career preference. The study also exhibits the variations in the locality of the respondents; students from urban area have slightly higher occupational aspiration as compared to their counterparts with students from rural area. However, the study concluded that there is no significance difference on the basis of the respondent‟s gender.</description>

Abstract: Academic achievement is the extent to which students accomplish the educational objectives. Student success and the quality of educational institution are mostly evaluated on the outcome of academic achievements. There is a strong pressure on student to score high mark since academic achievement is considered as one important factor for securing jobs in latter life. One of the most important factors affecting academic achievement is study habits. Good Study habits helps in promoting confidence, motivation, time management and resulting in achieving the educational objectives, while bad study habits put students on the disadvantage side resulting in failure, despair and drop out of the course. Regardless of the facts that College in Aizawl city impart good and uniform pattern of instruction to each and every students, student‟s performance is of wide range and large number of students who did good in higher secondary tends to fail in under graduate level, and therefore, the study try to resolve the relationship between academic achievements and study habits. The present study found that under graduate students have unsatisfactory study habits, both male and female from urban and rural shows similar pattern of study habits.</description>
