Title: Assessment of the Availability and Barriers of ICT for Teaching and Learning in Schools of Mizoram
Authors: Lalduhawma, LP
Abstract: The covid-19 pandemic forces the schools and teachers to carry on teaching though online mode
since there is no other alternatives during lockdown periods. The world is going through the
technological revolution and adoption of new technologies in the education system across all
levels of education across the world. This study investigates the availability of ICT in schools,
and the barriers of using ICT in schools, using schools in Mizoram, India as a case study. It was
observed that availability of ICT facilities (computers and accessories, internet connectivity,
digital devices etc.) need to be improved. The research also identified the barriers that are
hindering the ICT utilization in schools, among them are Lack of funding, Insufficient number of
internet connected computers, not enough computers, Insufficient number of the interactive
whiteboard or any other educational software, Outdated, incompatible or unreliable computers.
Recommendations were put forward on how to improve ICT availability and utilization.
Conclusions were drawn from the findings.

Title: REFLECTION OF LONGITUDINAL WAVE IN THE MICROPOLAR ELASTICITY WITH VOIDS
Authors: Lalduhawma, LP
Abstract: By considering no more interaction between wryness tensor and change in voids volume
fraction in the materials, the reflection problem of plane longitudinal waves at a free
boundary of micropolar elastic materials with voids has been investigated. We have
obtained the amplitude and energy ratios of reflected waves for the incident longitudinal
wave by using appropriate boundary conditions. The effect of voids parameter in the
non-dimensional wavenumber, amplitude and energy ratios are computed numerically
for the particular material’s model.

Effectiveness of Online Learning during the COVID -19 Pandemic in Mizoram

Title: Effectiveness of Online Learning during the COVID -19 Pandemic in Mizoram
Authors: Lalduhawma, LP
Abstract: Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, most schools in Mizoram shifted to online learning platforms to continue with their academic activities. A survey was carried out using a questionnaire to identify the effectiveness of online learning. 356 students and 60 teachers from different secondary and higher secondary schools in Mizoram responded to this survey. To find the effectiveness of online learning, percentages were calculated to analyze the data and the mathematical consensus (Cns) were calculated. Students’ preferences and perceptions on various attributes of online classes were analyzed. The results indicated that most of the students and teachers were not quite ready to shift to online learning platforms. Bad internet connectivity, low data limits, slow data speed, demand for costly devices such as smart phones and related software and connectivity were problems faced in conducting online classes. It was found that the students preferred using smart phones to follow online classes, and mathematics was the most difficult subject to learn or teach in online classes.
