Authors: Thangmawia, L
Abstract: Mathematics is considered as the hardest subject in school education all the time. Students
always have a sense of fear and failure. Though many efforts were made to overcome this,
score of candidates of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School
Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations under Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE)
showed that it is still the subject performed worst by the candidates in the Board
examinations. The government and educational institutions including Mizoram University
should plan for solving this issue in Mizoram. Research in Mathematics education should be
given importance for the improvement of teaching and learning of mathematics. Adoption of
ICT in Mathematics teaching and learning in a meaningful way may improve the performance
of students in Mathematics subject in Mizoram.

Authors: Thangmawia, L
Abstract: The covid-19 pandemic forces the schools and teachers to carry on teaching though online mode
since there is no other alternatives during lockdown periods. The world is going through the
technological revolution and adoption of new technologies in the education system across all
levels of education across the world. This study investigates the availability of ICT in schools,
and the barriers of using ICT in schools, using schools in Mizoram, India as a case study. It was
observed that availability of ICT facilities (computers and accessories, internet connectivity,
digital devices etc.) need to be improved. The research also identified the barriers that are
hindering the ICT utilization in schools, among them are Lack of funding, Insufficient number of
internet connected computers, not enough computers, Insufficient number of the interactive
whiteboard or any other educational software, Outdated, incompatible or unreliable computers.
Recommendations were put forward on how to improve ICT availability and utilization.
Conclusions were drawn from the findings.

Abstract: The effect of mechanical relaxation time in the elastic wave propagation in elastic
materials with voids is investigated. The phase speed and the attenuation
coefficients are obtained and observed the effect of mechanical relaxation time.
The phenomenon of reflection of elastic waves due to the incident waves from a
plane boundary of elastic materials with voids is studied. The amplitude and
energy ratios of the reflected waves are obtained. Numerically these ratios, phase
speeds and the corresponding attenuation coefficients are computed for a
particular model and the effect of mechanical relaxation time is discussed.

Authors: Thangmawia, L
Abstract: Since ICT has become such an important feature in everyday life, it is no wonder that it
has also burrowed through the teaching and learning scenario making its presence felt
in more ways than one. The coming of the Covid-19 pandemic, though a calamity in itself,
provided an opportunity to find out the true effectiveness of ICT on online mathematics
teaching and learning. The population under consideration was secondary teachers
teaching mathematics. The findings clearly outlined the status of mathematics teachers
when it came to teaching mathematics using ICT. It was discovered that mathematics
educators did not consider ICT adequate to replace offline teaching, but they considered
that it could supplement it. Besides, it was also observed that students themselves
enjoyed teaching enhanced with ICT.
